Having worked in the health & fitness industry for 7 years, I have seen many people getting injured due to gym workout, both due to bad training method or over-training. Not forgetting the tension and imbalance one may developed in the body thru from it. I figured that gym workout, though helped transform me physically from a fat & sluggish girl, was not the best answer to achieve wellness. Then I came across the idea of balancing and even rehabilitating my body thru Pilates and it was truly appealing. Thus I took my first pilates certification, and from then on I was totally addicted to it.
As Pilates is still relatively "new" in the region, there is never enough awareness of this exercise system. Most people can only vaguely relate Pilates to yoga. Thus I have always wanted to start a blog about Pilates, because I enjoy blogging and I want to provide a cyber source where people (especially those in Singapore) can learn more about Pilates. This idea of writing a pilates blog has been bugging my mind since last year. In fact this blogspot account was registered for this purpose back in April 2006!
But I was very distracted by too many things (such as my post-grad study, wedding preparation, etc.) all happened at the same time. So now that our wedding is over, my husband, Edmund, has been really supportive and kept asking me to get into action of pilates blogging. So here I am, instead of writing on trivias of my personal life at xanga, I channel my attention to this blogspot instead.
To start with, let me remind myself the purpose of this blog:
1. To document my own journey of pilates learning.
2. To serve as a supplement to my presently on-going pilates mat classes. So that the class participants can seek clarifications, reinforce concepts or post questions on this site.
3. To provide pilates/ fitness/ wellness related information to any reader.
Hope you will enjoy reading this blog as much as I writing it.
